  •

Environmental Concerns - With a grant from the J. M. Kaplan Fund, a natural resources inventory of the Town of Chester was developed consisting of a series of overlay maps which depict soils, topography, wetlands, streams and other natural features.
  •
Sub-Committees -We have an active sub-committee which is committed to preservation of  the artistic and historical traditions of our community.  The Sugar Loaf Community Vision Committee. The Vision Committee is actively working on restoration of the village, currently developing a Master Plan for the main street, which will help implement updated sidewalks, lighting, infrastructure issues, and address public safety issues including handicapped accessibility.

Sugar Loaf is growing rapidly. While we welcome progress, the Foundation strives to be an influence that will preserve and protect Sugar Loaf's history, environment and identity as a unique, viable art and crafts community as well as a rural hamlet. Promoting a variety of recreational opportunities in the area including parks, hiking and interpretive trails is also an important interest of the Foundation. A strong community Foundation representing the various needs and concerns of a diverse population is essential as a forum for wise and responsible planning.

We are very interested in  preserving Sugar Loaf Mountain and surrounding areas, and hope to discourage saturation by new housing developments. We want to protect Sugar Loaf Mountain for all future generations.

We want to keep our Mountain green.

If you would like to show your support to the goals and activities of the Foundation, we invite you to become a member.
